Legislation for Women and Girls

We advocate for better laws and policies and train other women to do the same.

"I feel privileged to be one of the Women's Foundation of California grant partners. The Foundation has a unique perspective on what the real issues are that women are facing—particularly in rural parts of the state—as well as what's happening in Sacramention in terms of policy. The Foundation acknowledges that the kind of social change work we all do takes time, that you can't just do surface peripheral change, it has to be systems. Whole systems have to be torn down and rebuilt in order to truly create lasting and meaningful change."

Women and girls are a critical voice too often missing in Sacramento and at the level of local policy making. Through our Women's Policy Institute, we train leaders to be agents of change for policies that impact the lives of women of all ages, their families and their communities. Our fellows have advocated for legislation for safer cosmetics, increased measures addressing violence in the workplace and an expansion of protections for noncitizen victims of trafficking, domestic violence and other serious crimes.
