Alliance for Nonprofit Management

The Alliance for Nonprofit Management is a professional association of individuals and organizations devoted to improving the management and governance capacity of nonprofits. The Alliance also serves nonprofit organizations directly by providing an online "Find a Consultant or Service Provider" directory and a "People of Color" roster.

Alliance for Women's Equality

The Alliance for Women's Equality (AWE) seeks to advance gender equality and help build sustainable organizations that protect and promote women's and girls' rights. AWE provides two types of programming: capacity building services for sister nonprofit organizations and advocacy programs for the general public. Specifically, AWE provides pro bono development, strategic planning and communications consulting to grassroots nonprofit organizations that protect and promote women and girls. 

Center for Excellence in Nonprofits

The Center for Excellence in Nonprofit’s (CEN) mission is to improve the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening and sustaining its leaders and to promote excellence in Executive and Board leadership.  While some of CEN’s programs are available statewide and nationwide (in particular the CEN LeadersLink teleconference series), CEN’s programs are focused predominately on nonprofits in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. Programs provided include: CEN LeadersLink teleconference series; scholarships for Silicon Valley Executive Directors through the Harvard Business School Partnership; CEN Leaders Institute for professional development; Executive Director Roundtables; and CEN Best Practice Exchanges. The Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) works to improve the performance of nonprofit organizations addressing critical issues and serving underserved populations in Southern California. CNM helps nonprofit organizations more effectively fulfill their missions by: guiding nonprofits to critical information; developing nonprofit leadership and management skills; counseling organizations through change; building human capital; and promoting collaboration and communication. CNM's Knowledge and Information services are free and its fees for other services are set on a sliding scale to help make them accessible to organizations of all sizes.

CompassPoint Nonprofit Services is a nonprofit training, consulting and research organization with offices in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Through a broad range of services, CompassPoint provides nonprofits with the management tools, concepts and strategies necessary to shape change in their communities. CompassPoint offers conferences, workshops, management consulting and online resources.

Fresno Area Nonprofit Council

The Fresno Area Nonprofit Council is a diverse collaborative of nonprofit organizations serving the Greater Fresno Area. It is dedicated to community building and improving the quality of life in the Fresno area by uniting the nonprofit sector, enabling it to: Share strengths and resources, reduce duplication of services, connect diverse affinity groups, develop strategic alliances, advocate on behalf of nonprofits and those it serves, participate in shared learning opportunities and joint projects, strengthen board and staff leadership, and enhance programs and services offered to those served.

Idealist

Idealist is a website that provides an online meeting place for nonprofit organizations, resources, consultants, job seekers and volunteers.  Idealist offers some resources and advice for capacity building online, but its best use is as a networking tool to link up with other organizations, consultants, and nonprofit job seekers.

Innovation Network

Innovation Network works to share planning and evaluation tools and provides consulting, training, and online tools for nonprofits and funders. Innovation Network offers free online tools, including an organizational assessment, evaluation planning resources and help with creating a logic model. It also offers tailored consulting and training services for nonprofit organizations.
 
Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership

The Long Beach Nonprofit Partnership is a vital and growing resource for over 500 community-based organizations in the greater Long Beach area. It offers information, referral and consulting services, networking opportunities, a prized philanthropy and research library and a full schedule of year-round educational seminars and workshops.

National Community Development Institute

Based in Oakland, the National Community Development Institute (NCDI) provides customized capacity-building services to promote community-building and social transformation in diverse, low-income communities. NCDI works with community organizations to build strong, healthy, resilient communities of color with the leadership, infrastructure, and civic participation to effect social change, shape public policy and influence the political economy in a diverse society.

Nonprofit Genie

Nonprofit Genie is an online service that provides resources, information, advice, and answers to frequently asked questions for the nonprofit community. A project of CompassPoint Nonprofit Services and the California Management Assistance Partnership, the Genie provides a wealth of written materials and answers to FAQs regarding such issues as board development, fundraising, strategic planning, financial management and other topics.

Taproot Foundation

The Taproot Foundation (TF) is committed to building the capacity of individual nonprofit agencies by helping to develop their infrastructure in such critical areas as marketing/fundraising, information technology, and human resources. Taproot Foundation's model facilitates structured, high quality pro bono work by professionals beyond the legal community. TF has begun its work in the marketing, technology, and human resources sectors, and it is steadily expanding its focus. TF wants to ensure that all business people can serve their communities by giving what they knowtheir own professional expertise. Ultimately, Taproot Foundation will be successful when nonprofits take marketing, technology, human resources and other capacity building services for granted and pro bono work is an institutionalized part of all business sectors.

Young Nonprofit Professionals Network

The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) promotes an efficient, viable, and inclusive nonprofit sector that supports the growth, learning and development of young professionals. YNPN engages and supports future nonprofit and community leaders through professional development, networking and social opportunities designed for young people involved in the nonprofit community. YNPN is a national organization with two California chapters located in the Bay Area and in Southern California.
